Audrey’s Style Journey
“My style has been impacted by my lifestyle as a mother of 4 and spouse to a small business owner. By day, I need to dress to keep up with a toddler--nothing too precious or restricting. On the other end of the spectrum, there are times when I need to dress up to attend a gala or other professional event as the public face of our small business. I came to you with the intention of dressing well as a mom, in addition to reflecting our business success at professional events. Once we narrowed down my body architecture and style archetype, you helped me style items I already owned, and supplement my closet with new items. It was eye-opening to get objective, professional feedback about why certain styles do or don't work for me. You encouraged me to try silhouettes, materials, and prints that I probably wouldn't have selected on my own, but that somehow felt authentic to my style and personality. It's as helpful to know what doesn't work for me as it is to know what does. I'm armed with the knowledge of what to look for when I shop, as well as what to pass up. Both save me time, money, and energy.”

Before Signature Styling Services
What problem did you have before we started working together?
“About a year ago I started learning more about color and style. I had my "colors done" last year and began buying things in my color palette, sometimes buying things that didn't seem like they fit my style. I realized there was another element to consider--that I have a style type as well as a color season. As with colors, I felt that I had some good instincts based on what I've learned in decades of dressing myself. But I also felt like I was spinning my wheels and wasting time and money buying things that didn't suit me. I spent countless hours reading about body types, but was no closer to knowing how I should dress my body. I was surprised at how hard it was to be objective about my own body. I found you on Instagram and trusted that you could view me objectively with a professional eye.”
What made you say “yes” to working with me?
“I had followed you for several months on Instagram and liked your approach. As a therapist, I liked that you delved into clients' inner worlds to discover their style. You were doing a lot of deeper inspection than simply telling someone, "You're X shape, so you should wear Y!" I enjoyed watching your IG stories where you broke down the process of dressing yourself, processing why things worked and didn't. I learned a lot that way and appreciated you sharing your knowledge and process. You were friendly and generous in engaging with me online before I ever signed up for a service. Once I had decided that I wanted to hire someone, I knew I wanted it to be you.”
After Signature Styling Services
Since working with me, what has changed for you on the inside?
“I have more insight into why I dress like I do and what drives my style decisions. For example, my inner critic will often compel me to dress in a plain and minimalistic way in order to avoid criticism. I have learned that I don't dress for others; I dress for myself. Perhaps the biggest internal change was having concepts "click" and having the confidence to dress myself. That didn't come immediately, but as we worked together I learned a lot and gained confidence in my understanding of my style.”
Since working with me, what has changed about the way you show up on the outside?
“I think I dress in a more interesting and cohesive way since working with you. I wear things that I wouldn't have known to look for before, and I believe they're better suited for me. I stopped wearing soft, sweet, frilly things that were unintentionally contrasting with my facial/body features and personality. In their place, I started wearing things that were structured, edgier, and angular. I hope that my looks now are more harmonious, interesting, and intentional-looking.”
What Style Growth looks like in real time
“I was going through this whole process of deciding what to wear to this derby party we go to every year. I have a purple fascinator and thought it was in okay shape…”
“Pulled out a couple looks”
“Then asked myself, ‘What would Polly Fucking Shelby wear to the Derby?’”
